This December, my family and I are going to the Grand Canyon and I'm wondering what other activities that we may do while there aside from sight seeing.  We have our 2yr old daughter coming with us also.  And any tips?

Oh my goodness - how much time do you have? There is much to see in that area! Monument Valley is awesome. Stop at some of the Trading Posts. Go up to Page and see the Lake Powell area. There was a wonderful raft trip (a float - NO rough water at all) from the dam. Go to the go-arizona.com website and request their guides. And get a map.
wow.. thanks for the tips.. hmm... we might skip that raft trip as we have a toddler with us.. but we'll do check Lake Powell... actually were just looking into staying there just overnight from Las Vegas then head back to Los Angeles or Las Vegas the next day..
It can be chilly in December, but here's the advantage of winter: The South Rim won't be jam-packed with visitors. I'm not sure I'd go rafting in winter, Maureen, but you may be (and probably are) hardier than I am. Paul, since you'll have your two-year-old, it might be cool to visit the glass platform that juts out over the abyss. Trust me: Adults love it, too. http://www.grandcanyon.com/grand-canyon-skywalk.html
Guess I just got so excited thinking about going back there I forgot it might be cold!
Weather, your interest and time that you have is played a vital role while visiting to Grand Canyon who offers many things to its visitors that’s why every kind of travelers visits this place. April to late September is hit season in Grand Canyon mostly people visit in this period. The best time to visit there is March to till April, you find a perfect weather that a tourist require i.e. sunny days and chilly nights.

Here are some popular things you can do and see with your family in your trip.

- Rim walk in the South Rim Historic District
- Free ranger programs
- Scenic Hermit Road Trip (can be done by bus, bicycle and walk)
- Scenic Desert View Drive
- Hiking

Further, wanna enjoy the winter/snow then wait till December, spend your Christmas and New Year night there.

Have a comfortable stay in Luray VA Accommodations
thanks for the tips guys...
Just went with my four year old and she loved it. When you are there be sure to visit the Watchtower. If you are driving, take the Sedona route at least once and stop in to eat at L'auberge de Sedona Restaurant. Be sure to bring warm clothes and a flashlight, as it gets cold and REALLY dark. Also, Colorado River Discovery (www.raftthecanyon.com) had a really nice river tour that was mild enough for my daughter and she enjoyed it.
