Hi, we're going to Chicago in late October to sightsee, visit family and friends.  Want a nice, centrally located hotel, will have a rental car.  Please advise.

Chicago is one of major cities of USA and has many attractions for tourists and like it, has many hotels/motels and B&B, some of them are expensive but there are still some good deals available that need to be availed. I suggest you to look for some best deals on the following link.

I bet you find one of them that suit you.

Have a comfortable stay in Luray VA Accommodations
I love Chicago. But IN the city, driving can be rough - I much prefer public transportation. Unless your family and friends are right in the city, I'd think about staying outside the city and doing the train. There are a lot of fine hotels on Michigan Ave!
Hi Deborah,

I lived in Chicago for many years and its a great city you will enjoy your time there. If you want to stay in downtown I would recommend the Talbott. It is a great boutique hotel with very large rooms and a bit of an "English Inn" feel to it. Great location though near Michigan Ave, musuems and restaurants etc. I agree with Maureen - ditch the car if you want to stay in downtown, you won't need it. Public transit is so easy there and will get you ANYWERE with on the city including the airports. If the weather is good, be sure to take a walk along the lake for a while. It is beautiful and you will get some great views of the city too. Another thought is too explore some of the nighborhoods on the N. side of the city like Andersonville or Lakeview and Wrigleyville (Wrigley field is there). You will love ChiTown.
I know any advice is probably too late seeing as it is now November but I would be curious as to where you did stay and what you thought of it as well as what you loved/hated about Chicago!
The museums are top notch - especially the Art Institute. The lake front is beautiful, the Hancock or Sears Tower for the views from the observation decks. shopping, Michigan Avenue, restaurants and night life! Those are all things I love about Chicago!
