Seeking an affordable cookery weekend in UK, Spain or France

Hubby is 50 next month and I want to arrange a cookery trip for him (UK, Spain or France). Son and I may or may not want to tag along - we're not interested in cooking, tho' I love creative fabric arts... - it all depends on the price.

Not exactly rich - so any suggestions, guys?

Granada is a fabulous town because it is large enough to spend a long-weekend exploring, but small enough that you can feel as though you really know it well. You can visit Sevilla, Spain as well, depending on time.

How about a canal barge cruise?

That is the ideal to combine regional sightseeing, culinary activities (from shopping at the nearby village market to cook hands on with the chef on board) while the rest of the party can enjoy cruising, touring, bicycling etc...
