For tigers, Corbett and Bandgharva are best and away from the tourist triangle. I went in March and saw 4 tigers and many other lovely critters.
Marcia and Tracey, I visited a wildlife preserve in India ten years ago but didn't see any tigers. I'll try not to be jealous, but clearly, I went to the wrong places. Did you do this trip on your own, or did you use a tour operator? If so, which tour operator?
Most people who visit India, go to visit the various tiger reserves. The popular ones being Ranthambore, Corbett, Pench and Gir for lions. Most of the excursions into the national parks and tiger reserves can be booked online. No one can guarantee that you will spot a tiger. I visited Ranthambore a few years ago, and spotted a tiger on our third attempt. The most active forum indian wildlife is here
Many parks are closed during monsoons for visitors. Information about the tigers which are fast vanishing, is maintained by Govt of India's Ministry of Environment and Forests - Project Tiger
HI Tracey,
We have excellent connections and relationships with several India Tour Operators who would gladly speak with you and arrange for a Safari.
Our company has been managing travel for 40 years and we know our partners very well which ensures our clients have a safe and worthwhile experience.
They are born and raised in India and most are family businesses that have been passed on from generation to generation.
If you would like to provide me with our dates and the city your a flying from / to, I can then look into this for you.
Thanks - lisacohen@groupeideal.ca www.idealtravelalongtheway.com
I suggest Bandhavgarh National Park - (Tiger Project)
Bandhavgarh is truly one of India's magnificent wildernesses with a relative abundance of tigers compared to other National Parks increasing our chances of spotting that elusive tiger - there are so many other interesting animals and birds to see- so you will not be disappointed.
Tadoba and Kanha are goods ones in Central India, best way to get to those Tiger resorts are by flying to Nagpur. You will have a better change to see wild life.
P.s. Don´t go to Pench, you will be lucky if you get to see Peacocks are wild dogs.
