I am spending a few days in Masai Mara region. Have a few more days I would like to fill. Should I stay in Kenya (Amboseli?) or go to Tanzania (Tarangire, Ngorongo, Lake Manyara)? Suggestions anyone?

I spent three weeks volunteering in Arusha (Kilimanjaro) Tanzania. I spent a weekend on safari and did both Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater...OH MY GOSH! you have to do this!! The Crater is unbelievable. I went with a friend who had been before and she told me "Erin, by the time you are through with this safari, you will believe in a higher power" She was right. it's majestic and peaceful and simply cannot be described in words.
You can email me at Dino837@aol.com if you have any more questions. best of luck!
Been to Africa several times; am not an expert. But I can say that Erin Leigh Dinan seems justified in praising Ngorongoro Crater. Coupla months ago I read a story right here about that area and bookmarked it because it convinced me to go. Here's the link: http://blog.tripatini.com/?s=ngorongo
Points to be noted:

- Tanzania has more land devoted to national parks and game reserves than any other wildlife destination in the world.

- Tanzania has the largest National Park in East Africa - Serengeti, covering over 14,000kmsq of grassland plains and savanna as well as riverine forest and woodlands.

- Tanzania has the highest mountain in Africa - Mt. Kilimanjaro, 5895metres high.

- Tanzania has the largest game reserve in East Africa - Selous is 55,000kmsq large.

- Tanzania has the longest, deepest and largest Lake in Africa, Lake Tanganyika.

- Over 120 tribes, Tanzania reflects a rich culture and people of Tanzania are very hospitable, helpful and polite.

- Tanzania is very peaceful, 70% less crime rate that other countries of Africa.

- Tanzania has more national parks, game reserves and islands than the other East African Countries.

- Tanzania has Ngorongoro Crater, which is also called the 08th wonder of the world.

The only setback of Tanzania is lack of aggressive marketing of the country to the rest of the world. There are loads of people in the world who still believe Mt. Kili is in Kenya! and then there are those who
do not even know Tanzania exists on the map!
We have some very unique and special trips that include safaris of Tarangire, Ngorongo Crater and Lake Manyara. It depends on the time of year you will be going, but the annual migration in Tanzania is not to be missed! Please e-mail us at info@adventureswithinreach.com for more information, or you can check out our Tanzania (and Kenya) trips details on our website at www.adventureswithinreach.com/tz. You can also call and speak with one of our Africa experts at 877 232-5836.
Here are a couple of links that may help you make a decision on whether to go to Kenya or Tanzania. They have a list of adventure travel activities as well as ratings for each country.

It would also be a good idea to check for travel advisories for East Africa. You can check several different sources at this link. http://www.adventuretravelmentor.com/world-travel-advisories.html
I hope this helps.
