Are you connected to the tourism/travel/hospitality industries or travel media in any way? If so, please specify how (kindly include any relevant company names/Web sites!).
I have a book in pre-publishing hell called Bocas Time. It is about an adventure driving from Big Sur California to Bocas Del Toro Panama.
I ended up living in Bocas for four years, and the book lampoons it pretty well.
I now live in The United Arab Emirates. It is as far away from Panama, geographically, environmentally and culturally as is possible on this earth. I can say that even though I lived 250 miles above the Arctic circle for a year.
I am blogging my experience here. You can find my writing at

Please subscribe, I promise not to bore you.
On which destinations & travel topics can you advise members especially well?
Panama, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, the UAE. Topics? How to use a bidet.
What destinations are you most interested in learning about?
Thailand
Other travel / language expertise?
Making border officials laugh to lighten up their day.

Bali: Paradise Buried

If Bali is on your bucket list, scratch it off. I’ll save you the long plane ride and the money to get there by telling you that the romantic, idyllic paradise you have in your mind about Bali has been buried under tourists, traffic and trash. Our introduction to Bali might have jaded us. I know it jaded my wife. The line at immigration was not long, but the clerks were…

Planes I Have Flown on in 50 Years of Air Travel

I think I have remembered all the planes I have flown on since I started traveling in the 1960′s. That was tough. I started traveling as a child in the Midwest, then to South America, and then, well all over.

You seem like quite a character, my friend -- and I mean that as a total compliment! If you have any meaty travel-themed humor pieces, we'd we happy to consider them for our blog. Not to mention coverage of Panama, UAE, etc.

Have a good one!
