Who can mention the names of Samarkand, Bukhara or Khiva without conjuring up images of the romance and intrigue of the Great Game, of skull caps and silk sashes, of fabulously coloured mosaic domes and minarets, or of a freshly arrived caravan train of traders… We invite you on this journey, which preserves the tradition of Christmas whilst experiencing the beauty and majesty of wintery Uzbekistan. We walk amongst the snow-covered domes of the minarets, visit the magnificent madrassahs and…

Autumn with its scintillating fall colors and quirky traditions is time when the 'Zombies'’ * rule the favorites chart. It is Halloween time and my first in the USA. Though the big day is on October 31st and would be missing out the 'Ghostly Greenwich Village' parade of New York. I am in California at present.
In New York I walked the streets and stores of Upper East side, the Village and Soho looking at the whackiest set ups. The pumpkin, a vegetable I am not very fond off, rolls…

Bangkok's chaos was nearly unequaled. It's rainy season now and the simple act of breathing is like trying to pull air through a wet wool blanket. But as I've made my way north, the climate has changed as well as the cultural temperment. In Pang Soong, I found a spiritually centered mountain village buried in the jungle at 4,000 feet. Cooler, calmer. We did the obligatory zip line here, Flight of the Gibbon. It funnels bhat into the local economy...a better proposition than opium, bush meat…

I have been plane hopping from San Francisco to Denver, to Houston, Atlanta and finally New York. The flights have been uneventful except for the crazy crowds at Atlanta. This was result of delays, thanks to a stormy weather along the track from Houston to Atlanta and sitting it out figuring to eat or carry food packets on flight.
The crowded aisle and the wait inside the craft is probably due to charges on luggage. This was more prominent in Atlanta to New York flight and the going…

California is on our yearly travel route, meet the children, and every year California lives up to its reputation as the sunshine state. An added bonus, especially for someone coming from the verticality of Hong Kong, are the rolling golden hills and open spaces. As my husband commented ‘You can stretch your arms and not hit someone’.
This year we did a 7 day fast track drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles, San Diego, La Jolla, San Simeon, Cambria, and along the scenic Pacific…

Taking the Jambiani cultural village tour with MarsVenus Tours & Safari
This is a piece that I wrote for MarsVenus Tours about the cultural tour that you can do in the coastal village of Jambiani - would recommend it for all visitors to the East Coast who want to understand a bit about the history, culture, flora and fauna of the area.
"Beaches in Zanzibar are picture postcard tropical beaches. The fine white coral sand, enticing turquoise ocean, palm trees waving in…
