The Konfidentiel Hotel, 64 rue de l'arbre sec, Paris 75001

This hotel is aptly named, in a small street (“rue de l’arbre sec”) near the Rue de Rivoli, the hotel-restaurant “Konfidentiel” is hard to find.

This jewel is different than anything I could find in Paris in terms of hotels. Many words can be used to define it: luxury, unusual, charming, intriguing. The Konfidentiel has 6 suites, all referring to French history, but shhh!!! I did not tell you more I leave it to experience for yourself.

The restaurant will dazzle with its… Continue

Hotel Relais Bosquet, 19 rue du Champ de Mars, 75007 Paris

I could say many things about this hotel, I could say that is is one of the best boutique hotel in the 7th district, I could say that the room are quite spacious compared to other hotels or I could write about the location (10 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower).

But I would like to write about the staff:Frederica, Abdenour, Christian and Bertrand will welcome you as they will do for friends.

They offer tickets for the Louvre museum, they are always happy to help you,… Continue

Where Flamingos Fly

“The chase is all,’’ my mother used to say about men. I think of this in the prickly mangrove bush where I've been waiting, curled like a pretzel since dawn, as my subjects take off the second before my shutter clicks.

“Flamingos are tough,’’ says our guide, Colin Ingraham, a master of understatement. They pierce the sky in long, pink-and-black arrows, taking flight each time we come within a certain distance — always beyond the focal length…

It's all good at Calabash Literary Festival in Treasure Beach, Jamaica

I

Imagine being lifted in a bubble and gently set on a headland by the sea. Famous people casually introduce themselves: “Hi, my name is Cristina [‘Dreaming in Cuban’ novelist Cristina García], and this is Russell [‘Affliction’ author Russell Banks].’’

Far from Negril and Montego Bay, I was in the Jamaican breadbasket of St. Elizabeth parish, among tawny beaches and funky guest houses with…

Sailing on Uniworld's Burgundy & Provence Epicurean River Cruise in France Was a Grand Experience!

I am a travel consultant, a Uniworld Cruise Specialist and a lifelong Francophile. I had the opportunity to sail on Uniworld's River Royale in early November 2010 as my first river cruise experience. This was indeed an epicurean adventure to sail on France's Rhone and Saone rivers.

River cruising is totally different from ocean cruising. You are steps away from the beautiful towns where you can take walking tours, ride bicycles, have an all inclusive food and wine…

Powdery Sand and Orange Sunsets: Is This Really Alabama?

Brown pelicans splash in the turquoise ocean looking for dinner. The sugar beach bumps up against the soft evening waves. You sip a smart cocktail lingering on the expansive lanai for the last glowing moment of a deep orange sunset. This is Alabama. Really?
